Now that
deer hunting season is over, there are a lot of different things that you can do to improve your chances
deer hunting big bucks. Cutting shooting lanes at your favorite
deer hunting stands can be vital to your success next year
deer hunting big bucks. We know that the
big bucks like to travel the thick stuff. Especially when the
hunting pressure is on.
Deer tend to prefer the thicker stuff once the shooting starts. Cutting lanes in these thick areas that you can see from your stand, may help you get one of those once in a lifetime
big bucks. Now that
deer season is over and the vegetation is at a minimum, it’s a good time to cut shooting lanes. You may have to redo some of them come late summer but at least you will have a big jump on them next
hunting season. The first thing I would do is get the tools that you will need. Some of the ones that will come in handy are pole saws, hand saw, chainsaw, machete , sling blade, and pruning shears. If you have access to a tractor, bush hogging shooting lanes can work great. Once you get there I would get up in your
deer stand. Pick out where you want your lanes. Where do you think those
big bucks will be traveling? Have someone cut the limbs or brush that you specifically point out to them from the stand. The next time you go
deer hunting you will be so glad you did this. Here at
Deer Hunting Big Bucks I aim to help you succeed taking trophy whitetails. So trim those shooting lanes.
I wanted to tell you a story about a couple of years ago I went hunting on November 17, smack dab in the peak of the rut. I was in a stand we call the burn stand. Around 9:30am I heard a big buck chasing a doe down a trail about twenty five yards from my stand, down a hill in the hardwoods. There is no doubt in my mind that this was a dominant buck. He was grunting and making noises like I have never heard. His grunt was so deep, I know he was dominant. I believe he bred a doe just out of my sight. If only I had cut a shooting lane down into those hardwoods. I’d say if I would have cut two or three limbs, that trophy buck would be on my wall right now. We had a late frost that year and the leaves were still on the trees. Don’t let a couple of limbs come between you and that once in a lifetime trophy whitetail. Trim shooting lanes, you’ll thank your self when you have got him on the ground.
