Deer Calls For Hunting Big Bucks

Do you use calls when you go deer hunting big bucks? They can be an extremely effective tool in helping you be successful taking big bucks. When I go deer hunting I have several different deer calls that I like to use.

My favorite deer call is a wooden grunt call made by Primos it sounds great. When I’m deer hunting I also use a doe bleat can, and a small hands free grunt call, which is great for bow hunting. A lot of deer calls have an adjustable reed that you can range any where from a fawn bleat to a dominant buck grunt. My favorite call is a dominant buck grunt when I am deer hunting big bucks. One of the biggest bucks ever harvested was the Beatty buck. It was taken in Ohio using a doe bleat can. I keep one on me all the time. I have taken several big bucks using a grunt call along with rattling antlers. If big bucks are with a doe they may or may not respond to calling. Some will stay with the hot doe no matter what. But some big bucks cant resist a good fight. When the rut is in full swing you can bet that when I’m deer hunting big bucks I am using calls to my advantage. Three years ago I took a nice eight pointer using a grunt call and rattling antlers. I was hunting that morning and I hadn’t seen a thing. Then I decided to use my rattle bag and I did a rattle sequence. Then I used my grunt call.. It was as if he was on a string. He came right to me. Sometimes I think bucks are just curious.

When the hunting pressure is on, calling can be just the thing that bucks cannot resist. You can bet when I’m deer hunting I’m using calls to help persuade trophy whitetails into range. You can actually use your mouth to make a bleat call to stop a buck right in his tracks. I have seen this work time and time again. Calling can be a great way to help you consistently bag trophy whitetails. Especially when you use with scents, and decoys. So give them a call, you’ll be glad you did.
