There are many different ways to locate places with great hunting for deer. I like to start looking as soon as possible, because the later you wait the less options you will have. The Internet is a great place to start looking. Finding places though friends is another great way to find good deer hunting property.

Finding a good deer lease could increase your odds deer hunting, and you might just get that buck of a lifetime.

Most of the places I have hunted in were found through friends recommending them to me.

Now that the season is over in most places and will be closing soon in others it is a great time to start thinking about where you want to hunt. I am kind of in a dilemma, my job situation is up in the air and I think I will be transferring out of state soon, so I don’t know where I will be doing my deer hunting next year. I guess I will have to wait and see. If I transfer out of state and don’t get in a new club in that state, I will definitely be doing some public hunting. That’s one good thing about deer hunting most states offer some great places for public hunting. So if I don’t know where I will be living until late in the year and I’m not able to find some quality hunting property at a reasonable price I’ll just do some public hunting. The biggest buck I ever harvested came form a wildlife management area. So I am fairly confident I’ll be able to get after some big bucks next year either way.

So if you are going to be looking for a new place to hunt next year, the best time to start looking is now.

  1. Not sure what part of the country you enjoy hunting in most, but have you looked into the Ozarks areas of NW Arkansas and Southern Missouri? Wildlife is abundant out here and land is extremely affordable, especially in this economy. There are some great deals to be had.

  2. Have over 400 acres of land on the Ohio river looking over at Kentucky. A creek borders one side. Will have corn and soybeans planted this year. Have different sections of woods. Have a house for deer hunters to stay in, email me if any one is interested in leaseing land with house for deer season. Rosiclare, Illinois

  3. totally agreed, finding dear leases early would put you on a great hunting spot for the next hunting season and probably take home those awesome buck as a reward.
