“The First Hunt” is a book that was sent to me by a nice lady named Franne Sippel. Franne contacted me and asked me if I would do a review on our site and although it took me way to long to respond I gladly said yes. Sorry for the long delay Franne.
I have two boys and want them to grow up and learn the same values that are taught in the book like having respect for nature, good sportsmanship, honoring our elders, sharing abundance and that is exactly what this book is about.
The First Hunt
The First Hunt is a true story about a South Dakota family and how the men of the family share hunting experiences and pass down from one generation to the next the values like I mentioned I want my boys to learn, which are the same values my father taught me growing up. As I read the book I could not help but think about my dad and I hunting whitetail when I was growing up and how much I anticipated opening morning of deer season every year. I would be so excited I could not sleep just thinking about the next morning. I can’t wait to share these same experiences with my sons.
My eight year old son Noah started reading “The First Hunt” as soon as he saw it laying on our kitchen table and he seemed to really enjoy it. After he read “The First Hunt” he had some questions for me. This past Christmas I bought him his first deer rifle and he wanted to know when we could go shoot it and maybe next deer season could he go with me? I could sense a little twinkle in his eyes when he was asking me about going deer hunting next season after he read the book. I can’t wait to take both of my boys hunting one day and I would love to be there when they each get that first buck.
I would highly recommend The First Hunt for anyone who loves the great American heritage of hunting it has some really good illustrations and would make a great gift for any young hunter or child. If you would like to get a copy at a great price just click “The First Hunt”.
